reflecting on everyday grace

the beautiful

Wherever you are, whomever you are, I hope you are feeling beautiful.

Scratch that.

I hope you know you are beautiful.  Absolutely beautiful.

Over the course of my 32 years on this earth, I’ve struggled with this subject, but in the midst of acknowledging and embracing my brokenness, I’m finally finding my true beautiful.  It has nothing to do with what we see in magazines or the lies we’re fed across the television waves.

We are beautiful because God made us.

It is a simple statement, yes, but one that we don’t hear or endorse enough.

So may we find and celebrate the beautiful in ourselves as well as each other, for as Ralph Waldo  Emerson once professed, “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.”

Today, thank God for just the way He made you — nooks, crannies, bulges, bumps, quirks, oddities, and all…

You are beautiful.
